A career in Sociology and Social Policy can be highly rewarding. By applying the knowledge and understanding you’ll gain whilst studying, you can address social issues and enhance the quality of life for individuals.

You’ll develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing you for a career in a wide range of sectors. You may choose to work in public housing, civil service, government administration or health services. Whatever you choose the skills you gain whilst studying a degree in Sociology and Social Policy will provide you with the knowledge of people and social problems.

Social Policy focuses on enhancing the wellbeing of society on a broad scale. You will learn how the government and society address welfare issues and be equipped to make a positive impact in the world through your career.

Explore topics such as the housing crisis, inequalities faced by gypsy travellers, domestic abuse, the experiences of LGBT communities, impact of Covid on society, and the cost-of-living crisis to name a few.

From child poverty to income inequality, there is ample opportunity to engage in constructive debates with staff and fellow students on issues that matter to you. You’ll gain an understanding of what leads people to feel differently and explore the causes and solutions of social problems in areas such as poverty, inequality, housing and health both globally and locally.

Here at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ, we have close links with charities, social care organisations, criminal justice agencies and local/national governments that enable field trips and ample opportunities to engage and network. Recently our students have enjoyed trips to the UK and Welsh Parliaments and Supreme Court.

Our Sociology and Social Policy degrees are taught by experts in their fields. Academic staff are internationally respected researchers exploring the effects of innovation, social changes, political and policy developments on health, mental health, poverty, social care, welfare and wellbeing.
