Sam Brown - BSc Forestry graduate
Now works as: Forest Manager
Now works for: UPM Tilhill
"After graduating from Bangor I was employed as a Forest Manager by UPM Tilhill; the largest Forest Management and Harvesting Company in the UK. I have been based in South Wales under a graduate scheme which offers extra training for new managers. I have been responsible for managing forestry contracts across Wales and assisting in management of predominantly commercial conifer forests in South and Mid Wales. I will shortly be taking a position in North Wales managing a portfolio of forests in and around Snowdonia.
"Bangor, located at the top of Snowdonia is an idyllic location to study forestry. A good range of modules are offered throughout the course with frequent field trips, to Newborough, Gwydyr and Penmachno Forests, to help complete a full understanding of lecture taught material. One of the course highlights was a forestry tour to Germany and Denmark during my second year.聽
"I took a work placement year with Furlong Forest Surveys during my third year undertaking forest mensuration throughout the UK for the Forestry Commission and private companies."
