Louise Sinnott- MBA Environmental Management
Role: Graduate Environmental Business Advisor
Organisation: Groundwork Suffolk
I chose to study the MBA Environmental Management at 麻豆传媒高清版 because the opportunity to learn business skills such as strategy, business planning and human resource management whilst still studying my main interest, environmental management really appealed to me. The environment in conjunction with business is becoming more and more relevant, as businesses try to reduce their environmental impact whilst saving money and also as businesses capitalise green marketing techniques.
The course also offered a large choice of field work such as an Environmental Audit at Treborth Botanical Gardens, an insight into the renewable technology project at Plas Newydd and a visit to Wylfa Nuclear Power Station to talk to the Environmental Manager. The MBA has given me the specific skills required in order to obtain my new job as an Environmental Business Advisor for Groundwork particularly through the IEMA accredited module “Strategic Environmental Management”.
My current job role is to work on the East Coast Carbon Efficiency Project which involves carrying out energy efficiency and green procurement reviews on small and medium sized businesses in Suffolk. I also write environmental policies, submit grant applications for carbon efficiency measures and review and submit businesses for the Suffolk Carbon Charter - a local environmental accreditation. I love the fact that I am able to work face to face with businesses and help them to reduce their energy costs, grow their business and reduce their carbon footprint, which in my opinion is a win-win for the economy and the environment. In the future I would like to carry on working as a business advisor, possibly on a slightly larger scale in regards to the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme.
