Danielle Mills, Environmental Management (MBA)
Role: Senior Research Assistant
Organisation: Southampton University
I studied Environmental Management MBA at 麻豆传媒高清版. The course has so much relevance in today’s society and really built upon the knowledge that I had gained from my Geography BA degree. I enjoyed every aspect of the course and I got so much out of it. It taught me to balance the economic, social and environmental issues that we face, and it gave sustainability a real role in modern day businesses. I really enjoyed the Green Economies module as that allowed me develop a business plan of my choice and research the issues that surrounded it, which gave me whole different outlook on future job possibilities.
I am now employed as a Senior Research Assistant at Southampton University. I am working on a project that will teach hairdressing training providers about sustainability, and develop ways in how we can integrate this into the curriculum. I develop advertising and training materials for the project, surveys for students and trainers, deliver presentations to trainers and attend hairdressing events to advise and raise awareness about our project.
I have worked in hair salons from a young age, and worked as a Stylist after I graduated for almost five years. After I completed my post graduate degree I continued to work in a hair salon and received contract work from eco suppliers in the hairdressing industry, as well as working on features for magazine articles. After a busy year I decided to go travelling to Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hong Kong. I met my icon in Australia; Kevin Murphy who is the Hairdressing Representative on Al Gore’s Climate Change Project which was really inspiring! When I landed I started my role with Southampton University.
